Creating A Presence On Social Media Part 1: Facebook

It is important to maintain a presence on social media even for stores, simply because of how popular social media sites are and if you are involved in the latest trend you will receive a lot more attention which will lead to more views and sales. Here are two companies that have a huge social presence online and are successful in keeping with trends as well as being a leader in the market.

ASUS are a front runner in the Gaming market, they produce and sell high quality products that many high end computer systems either use or are in fact systems made by ASUS. The online presence that they have for their Facebook page is a trendy and down to earth style that draws from the latest trends to try draw in new customers.

From this you can see they are using a trending article on influential people and have featured a celebrity who is in the top 100. This is a marketing strategy to try pull in the fans of said celebrity as a lot of fans and followers tend to listen and follow on with that their idols have to say.

Overclockers UK are a company that are in the same position but focus on building high-spec computer systems for customers. In the image below you can see that they instead of advertising with a certain campaign, they are using the date (May 4th) to engage with members of the community they have built.                                             (Facebook.com/OverClockersUK, n.d.)

They have created a meme for their page and have asked members of the community to send in their own favourite ones in an attempt to engage users, this is an effective ploy as it is something that is not so serious and fun.

For my facebook page I decided that I would take an approach similar to ASUS and create a more formal page.
I have created a simple banner that has a few animated products that we work with as well as including a store page containing our products that will display on Facebook. From the post created you can see that we have set up a sale for our store with a link back to our main website.
